The German Ocean Foundation is calling on all ocean heroes to take part in our media campaign - we want to highlight the great work being done around the world for our ocean. If you are involved in a positive project to protect, restore or clean up the ocean or raise awareness for the ocean - either with the support of an organization or on your own - then we want to hear from you!

Invisible worlds: From the microcosm in the ocean to the universe
The German Ocean Foundation brings the ocean into the planetarium - and opens up new perspectives on the smallest and biggest secrets of our world. In an innovative pilot project, impressive images of microorganisms were produced in two workshops in Niendorf on the Baltic Sea using high-resolution cameras and state-of-the-art microscopes - in close collaboration with the team of experts from ZEISS.

The Ocean Science Multimedia Exhibition of the German Ocean Foundation offers a place of learning for all students from the 5th grade onwards who are interested in the UN Ocean Decade and the challenges facing our oceans today.

'The Hydrosphere in Focus: Safeguarding Water for a Sustainable Future' on March 27 at 2 p.m.
Frank, in his role as a member of the EU Mission Board to Restore Our Oceans and Waters, will present his policy ideas in an online webinar on the occasion of World Water Day, 'The Hydrosphere in Focus: Safeguarding Water for a Sustainable Future', organized by the Institute for Sustainable Development in collaboration with Verimpact, taking place on Thursday, 27 March 2025 at 14:00 CET.

Join the ocean hackathon in Nice
The German Ocean Foundation is partnering with Step. and GO!, Terra Scientifica, Objectif Sciences International and the Forum de Genève for the "Participatory Science for Ocean" hackathon in Nice in June 2025, offering everyone - ocean enthusiasts, students and professionals - the chance to develop innovative solutions for the ocean conservatoin and sustainable ocean management.
We are delighted about our new cooperation with the Theo and Liesel Bechtold Foundation
The non-profit Theo and Liesel Bechtold Foundation supports marine conservation and research projects around the world with the aim of raising young people's awareness of the ocean, the environment and climate change and getting them involved in science.

We are in Brussels for the European Ocean Days
The EU Ocean and Waters Mission is organizing a forum from 3 to 7 March with events to discuss and shape future EU policies and initiatives on oceans and waters, in particular the EU Restore our Ocean and Waters Mission, the European Ocean Pact and the European Water Resilience Strategy.

The German Ocean Foundation joins the wave of messages for the High Seas
"We welcome the adoption of the historic High Seas Treaty, which represents a milestone for marine conservation, and welcome the commitment of the German government in signing it. The "love your ocean" initiative
At the "love your ocean" initiative at boot Düsseldorf, the world's largest water sports trade fair, the German Ocean Foundation welcomed more than 80 companies, initiatives, projects, universities and start-ups that are committed to marine and climate protection from 18 to 26 January 2025.

Ocean Forum on January 21 in Düsseldorf
The Ocean Forum of the German Ocean Foundation took place on 21 January on the Water Pixel World stage of the "love your ocean" initiative at boot Düsseldorf. Representatives from universities, NGOs and researchers spoke at the forum, addressing topics such as deep-sea mining, ocean literacy, octopus intelligence and European marine policy.

Presentation of the ocean tribute award 2025
We congratulate Ambiente Europeo on winning the ocean tribute Award 2025 at the BLUE MOTION NIGHT at boot Düsseldorf.
This year's winner is the organization Ambiente Europeo with the SeaLabs project. SeaLabs enables sailors to collect important marine data in remote areas and turn every trip into a research expedition. To this end, the company equips participants with affordable sensor technology and an intuitive app and uses the potential of the sailing community to obtain large data sets.

You can now apply for an FÖJ position at the foundation for the year 2025/26. You will support us in office management, take responsibility for your own projects in the field of environmental education or lead workshops for children, young people and families.

Apply now for the ocean competition 2025
In the "Research at Sea" marine competition, you can make your project a reality on a real research vessel. Teams of students from the ninth grade onwards can submit their applications until the end of March.
DMS at the German Sailing Day in Warnemünde
At the German Sailing Day in Warnemünde, the team from the German Ocean Foundation presented the major Citizen Science Project and the ENVIRONAUT environmental course for water sports enthusiasts, which can now be completed online.
