Financing

The ocean does not have a strong enough lobby, neither in politics, nor in society, nor in business. And because we are still at the very beginning in terms of the sustainable use of this largely undiscovered habitat, financing our work is also an extreme challenge. As put forward by Elisabeth Mann Borgese, the ocean is the "common heritage of humankind". In this spirit we are happy and grateful for any support for our work - for our ocean - and for our planet.

We finance our projects, the foundation's employees and infrastructure mainly through donations and project-related funding. The entire team would like to thank all our supporters, partners and donors who have made this valuable work for the ocean possible in recent years.

We attach great importance to the neutrality and independence of our work, which is why we do not consider sponsors or supporters who we know destroy or severely impair natural or social capital.

In 1992, we founded a non-profit association that has been collecting donations in order to fund the valuable work of our research and media ship ALDEBARAN. We are very grateful that there are partners who support the operation of the ALDEBARAN, in particular with products or who remain loyal to us with donations. We are also very pleased that many people have recognized how important it is to support the ocean and have committed to volunteering with us in the long term, allowing us to run projects for which we have no funding and which would otherwise be impossible to organize.
