The new European ocean age
An event as part of the German Maritime Day on May 8, 2025 at the Stiftung Seefahrtsdank

Solutions for sustainable shipping: Where do we stand?
Europe and the entire world are facing unprecedented challenges - and the ocean is our greatest common denominator. Drawing on Elisabeth Mann Borgese's concept of the "common heritage of the oceans" and with a particular focus on the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, we will address the question of the extent to which Germany has already achieved the goals of this decade and what measures are still needed to promote the sustainable development of the oceans - and thus our own future.
After a keynote speech by Dr. J. Daniel Dahm, Council Member, World Future Council, Klaus Maak, Head of Office, Maritimes Cluster Norddeutschland e. V.; Frank Schweikert, Board Member, German Ocean Foundation; Cornelius Eich, Head of Partnership & Sustainability, Team Malizia; Laura Meyer, Stakeholder Coordination Officer, UNESCO IOC; Christian Oetjen, Project Manager Restructuring of the Maritime Industry, Maritimes Cluster Norddeutschland e. V. and Anette Ustrup Svendsen, Head of Corporate Communications, Scandlines Deutschland GmbH will discuss.
